Sean O’Malley avenged the only loss of his career with a dominant performance against Tito Vera at UFC 299.
O’Malley shut out Vera 50-45, 50-45, 50-44 on the scorecards, making his first title defense and suffering a TKO loss to Vera in 2020, one of the only stains on his professional MMA career. I erased what I had suffered. After an ankle injury.
Vera caught O’Malley with a body shot near the end of the match and appeared to seriously hurt the champion. However, it was mostly one-way traffic for 25 minutes as O’Malley outplayed his opponent.
Here’s what fighters had to say about Saturday’s UFC 299 main event, Sean O’Malley vs. Tito Vera 2, in Miami.

Sean’s amazing performance. Tito fought hard, but his strength was not enough.

That body shot at the end might have been the deciding factor!! So dirty! O’Malley was great tonight. There were moments where Tito fought back, but Sean won every round in my book. #UFC299
