Arm up is nearly 7%. Nvidia rose 5%. Microsoft rose 2%. Intel fell more than 3%. It’s not hard to tell the winners and losers from yesterday’s reports that Nvidia is preparing to (re)enter the desktop CPU market using Arm’s architecture rather than Intel’s platform.
beginning Reuters after that bloomberg Intel’s traditional rivals in CPUs, Nvidia and AMD, and GPUs, Nvidia, have both reported that they are secretly working on Arm-based desktop CPUs. Nvidia stock rose on the news, but AMD stock fell more than 1%. This is perhaps a sign of investor nervousness about the possibility of facing $1 trillion Nvidia in yet another market. (AMD is trying to loosen his Nvidia’s tight grip on the high-end AI chip market. And, as always, those GPUs will be there.)
Nvidia has experience in this area for quite some time. His Tegra 3 system on the company’s chips was in Microsoft’s failed first Surface tablet more than a decade ago. Recently, it has also been equipped with a data center CPU called Grace, which we call a “superchip.” This is definitely at the opposite end of the spectrum for desktop CPU price and performance that is currently being talked about.
Currently, only two companies make Arm-based desktop CPUs. One of his names is Apple. His M series of in-house processors dominates desktops, laptops, and tablets. Arm’s mature architecture in the mobile space offers much better power efficiency than Intel’s products. However, Qualcomm is the only company working on the Windows market and has been working with Microsoft on Windows-on-Arm since 2016.
XDA-Developer report A few years ago, Qualcomm actually had an exclusive agreement with Microsoft that was likely to expire “soon.” The current end date appears to be 2024, with both Nvidia and AMD’s Arm-based desktop CPUs reportedly expected to hit the market the following year.
Intel is betting on integrating AI capabilities into its next CPUs as a way out of its slump. Microsoft is also keen on these features and will likely enhance many of the features of the Copilot AI assistant integrated into its operating system in the future.
But if a Windows fan wants an AI-powered product that approaches MacBook efficiency in a few years, it looks like there are plenty of other options. Additionally, both Nvidia and AMD know how to integrate CPUs and GPUs (Qualcomm’s graphics drivers). reportedly They have compatibility issues and both know how to get around the AI.
The desktop market continues to get interesting again. Please see the news below for more information.

Foxconn is in decline. Foxconn’s stock price fell several percentage points following reports in China that China’s tax and land-use authorities are involved in a lawsuit against the Taiwanese iPhone maker.as Al Jazeera coverage, Foxconn’s Chinese subsidiary was reportedly audited and an on-site investigation conducted. The government has not officially announced an investigation. What to note: Taiwan’s elections are in a few months, and Foxconn founder Terry Gou is the (poll-poll-poor) presidential candidate.
Apple’s climate change claims. Apple’s claim that the new Watch is “carbon neutral” is based on the purchase of carbon credits, which many see as greenwashing.as of financial times report, the EU plans to ban what Apple just did by 2026. Climate experts also suggest that the environmental impact of e-waste is being downplayed and question the quality of the credits themselves.
Spotify is highly profitable. Spotify posted its first quarterly profit since 2021, thanks to recent price hikes, overall subscriber growth and layoffs to cut costs. “We believe we should continue to see fairly consistent growth in operating income,” CFO Paul Vogel said. According to Reuters.

How to poison an AI. Artists have recently begun taking on big AI in court for what they consider to be exploitative data-training practices. But in the future, we may also have tools that help us target AI more directly.
as reported by MIT Technology Reviewthe Nightshade tool “allows artists to make invisible changes to the pixels in their art before uploading it online, so the resulting model becomes chaotic when fed into an AI training set.” It can break in unpredictable ways.” Isn’t that, in a sense, an art?
The team behind Nightshade appears to be planning to open source it and integrate it into another tool called Glaze, which prevents the AI from trying to learn an artist’s style. And yes, this all points to the insecurity of current AI models.
