Looks like 2024 is shaping up to be the year of Dune. Not only has Dune: Part 2’s release been pushed back to his March 15th date, but a new Lego set based on the sci-fi series has also been announced. The LEGO Dune Atreides Royal Bird Plane set has been announced, priced at $164.99, and has a release date of February 1, 2024. You can pre-order now (See it on Amazon).
Pre-order LEGO Dune Atreides Royal Bird Flight Device
This set is intended for an 18+ audience, so the assembly process may be a bit difficult for children. Also, the completed set is intended for display rather than play. It is made up of 1,369 parts and looks rather delicate due to his eight blades protruding from the fuselage.
The blades unfold to support flapping motions, allowing for display in both flight and landing modes. The vehicle also features deployable landing gear and an opening cockpit with plenty of room for minifigures.

Speaking of minifigures, this set comes with eight characters based on their depictions in the movie.
- paul atreides
- lady jessica
- Gurney Halleck
- Chani
- Leto Atreides
- Riet Kines
- duncan, idaho
- Baron Harkonnen
The Baron minifigure is especially impressive as it comes with a tall transparent stand and impressive long robes. This makes his minifigure appear to be floating, much like the characters in the books and movies do with their suspensors on their belts.
This is a great looking Lego set that will appeal to fans of the Dune series. And with Dune: Part 2 being released six weeks before it hits theaters, the timing couldn’t be better.
