Hikaru Shida made history by defeating Saraya on AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday to become the first three-time AEW Women’s World Champion. She had to overcome hardships, including interference from Ruby Soho who was supposed to be banned from ringside and spray paint on her face.
During the match, a hooded figure, identified as Soho, ran to the ring, but it was Shida who sprayed the members of Outkast with his own spray can. Toni Storm then ran down and knocked Soho down with a shoe, and the two brawled into the crowd as Saraya took control of the match. Shida fought back after being painted, and after the two fighters traded roll-ups, he hit the champion with a Falcon Arrow for the win. Confetti was scattered all over the arena and Shida celebrated his victory as Saraya looked distraught.
Shida originally lost the women’s title to Saraya in a fatal four-way match that also included Storm and Britt Baker at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium in August. However, it was Storm, not Shida, who received the pin in that match, giving her her first AEW title since Saraya was cleared to wrestle again.
