Some Vancouver transit users say they’re seeing an increase in TransLink service interruptions.
Over the past few months, there have been frequent incidents affecting hundreds of people and disrupting services, whether police or medical.
In February, Daily Hive Urbanized reported that there were at least eight accidents on the SkyTrain over a three-week period, leading to a devastating closure.
Many people shared their concerns and frustrations Reddit thread Thursday in response to another interruption that limited service between Brain and Lougheed. We also received comments from TransLink regarding concerns about transit fare increases impacting all fare zones.
Many people traveling from the Raid area will be affected by the service changes.
“The cuts to service across the Expo Line for the new depot near Braid are brutal. I think there could have been a better way to divert the trucks without disrupting service for two years,” said one user. said in a Reddit thread.
Another user said, “Skytrain has been terrible lately.”
Some people have chosen to switch to using ride-sharing services.
“I’m literally taking an Uber right now because I’m not dealing with that crap.”
Drivers and other commuters offered their condolences to Metro Vancouver transit users.
“I feel for anyone who has to rely on the SkyTrain to get to work. The number of outages that are happening these days is absolutely ridiculous, and it seems like we’re receiving alerts every day, sometimes multiple times a day. is.”
When comparing SkyTrain service to other transit systems in North America, some find it sounds more forgiving.

In response to the concerns, TransLink’s Tina Lobgreen told Daily Hive that SkyTrain service remains “frequent, reliable and safe.”
“For the year, the SkyTrain system had an on-time performance rate of 95.3% and provided 99.5% of scheduled service,” Robgreen said.
“At times, several factors can cause unexpected service interruptions, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers. In such cases, our staff will set up alternative services for our customers. However, we are working tirelessly to get our systems back up and running as quickly as possible.”
She added that TransLink is doing a lot of work to keep the system in a “good state of repair.”
