High winds and heavy snow may cause delays for many flights departing Mississauga’s Pearson Airport from late this afternoon into tonight.
Pearson officials said on social media late Wednesday afternoon that no flight cancellations were expected, but urged travelers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport in case their departures were delayed. There is.
“High winds are expected this afternoon and evening, with wind speeds expected to reach 64 km/h. We also expect snowfall to impact our operations over the next few hours, and road conditions in the area are expected to be poor. ” an airport official said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Although airlines are not expected to cancel flights due to weather, delays may occur. If you are traveling to Toronto Pearson today, please drive carefully and make sure you have plenty of time to get to the airport. Please take your time.”
Pearson officials said early in the winter that they are fully prepared to clear snow from the runways should heavy snowfall occur. More than 100 snowplows, tractors, trucks and other equipment are lined up to complete the work as needed, they said.
