A young man has been charged as a “co-conspirator” with a 15-year-old Ottawa boy who is already accused of plotting a terrorist attack against Jews, according to RCMP.
RCMP said in a statement Friday that both young men now face charges of conspiracy and consent to unlawful killing for the benefit of a terrorist group, collusion with a terrorist group, or at the direction of a terrorist group.
This is one of two new charges against the Ottawa boy, who was arrested in Ottawa on Dec. 15 and was already facing five charges.
The boy was also charged Thursday with knowingly promoting terrorist activities by obtaining or exchanging educational materials or propaganda, bringing the total number of charges to seven, RCMP said.
RCMP say the charges were also laid against a second youth arrested Thursday. They were also charged with a third offense of aiding and abetting terrorist activity by attempting to obtain prohibited firearms.
The age and gender of the youth arrested this week have not been released.
Due to the protection of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, neither youth can be identified.
Target of suspected conspiracy remains unknown
In late October 2023, the 15-year-old boy is said to have given instructions to someone to carry out terrorist activities against Jews, and around the same time provided instructions regarding explosives.
The specific targets, or the location and timing of the alleged terrorist activity, have not yet been outlined for any of the charges.
However, his previous charges involved some of the explosives allegedly found at his home when a search warrant was executed the night he was arrested.
These include acetone, a flammable and volatile liquid with a strong odor commonly found in nail polish remover, and unspecified oxidizing agents, substances used to promote combustion. I was there.
RCMP say both young men are scheduled to appear in an Ottawa-area court on Friday.
