Actor Mark Ruffalo appeared Sunday at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for a Q&A about his career and Oscar nominations, and seemed to confirm something he probably shouldn’t say.
In other words, he seems to be hinting that his take on Marvel Studios’ Hulk will be reflected in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World.
Host Ann Thompson then reportedly asked if he would be in the 2025 movie, to which he replied: “Yeah.” And I asked, “Can we talk about that?” To this he replied: It’s going to be amazing! ”
But sadly, according to multiple sources, varietyRuffalo made the gaffe because he thought he was agreeing that Brave New World was one of Marvel’s next films, but he wasn’t in it.
Ruffalo is known for a number of Marvel-related PR gaffes, including spoiling the ending of Avengers: Infinity War and accidentally livestreaming part of Thor: Ragnarok.
But one thing he did say that seems certain is that Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has made it clear to the actor that the studio won’t be making a standalone Hulk movie.
Feige asked Ruffalo a few years ago, “What would you do if there was a solo Hulk movie?” To which the actor responded, “I said, ‘I want to take him from this raging madman to this integrated character.'”
Then Feige said: He does it over four movies. We’ll never give you a standalone Hulk… We don’t mean to burst your bubble, but that’s not it [happen]…So, we’re going to do it in four movies, what do you think? ”
Ruffalo was recently inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “Captain America: Brave New World” will be released nationwide on February 14th.
