Canada will host 13 of the 104 matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with seven in Vancouver and six in Toronto.
As expected, the U.S. will play the bulk of the games with 78 games in a soccer showcase expanded to 48 teams. Mexico will also host 13 games, as will Canada.
The 2026 tournament begins June 11th at the historic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City and concludes with the championship game on July 19th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
BMO Field in Toronto will host the Canadian men on June 12 in the opening game on Canadian soil.
Canada will play its opening 10 games evenly between Toronto and Vancouver, with Canada’s remaining two opening games held at BC Place Stadium.
Toronto and Vancouver will each play a knockout game starting in the Round of 32, with Vancouver also hosting a Round of 16 match.
Vancouver may have one more game than Toronto because it offers a larger venue. BC Place’s tournament capacity is 54,000, while BMO Field’s capacity will be 45,000 once additional seats are added.
The quarterfinals will be held in Boston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, and Miami, and the semifinals will be held in Atlanta and Dallas. The bronze medal match will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
The U.S. will play its first group game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., and will have less travel than Canada, as the game at Lumen Field in Seattle will be sandwiched between the two games at SoFi.
The 2026 tournament was originally scheduled for 80 games, with the United States expected to host 60 games and Canada and the United States each hosting 10 games. The group phase was then expanded to include an additional 24 games.
There are 16 host cities, 2 in Canada, 3 in Mexico, and 9 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA.
The full schedule will have to wait until the tournament draw in December 2025, as 45 teams still need to qualify.
The televised reveal also included a cameo appearance by Drake in conversation with FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The Toronto rapper is known more for his love of hoops than for the beautiful sport, but he has ties to the Canadian men’s team and hangs out with them when they’re in town. During the show, Drake talked about Canada and Toronto’s multicultural people, calling the World Cup a “beautiful time” for the city.
