Many products and well-known stores across Canada are being pulled from shelves as Health Canada and Transport Canada warn shoppers of recalls due to health and safety risks.
One of the recalls involves certain Christmas hats that were sold at Giant Tiger. Baby Christmas hats with pom poms have been pulled from the shelves.
This hat is suitable for children 0-6 months and is constructed of bright red polyester fleece with cream sherpa trim and pom poms. Health Canada said in its recall warning:
The product can be identified as follows: Model number B3057-2, UPC 7-73299-33057-7.
“The pom-pom is not securely attached to the hat and may come loose or fall off after repeated washing, creating a choking hazard,” the warning reads.
As of Dec. 4, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
The company reported that 1,980 affected products were sold in Canada this fall.
“Consumers should immediately stop using recalled baby Christmas hats with pom poms (0-6 months old), remove the pom poms, dispose of the hats in general household waste, and use the pom poms as evidence of disposal by Abond Group Inc. for a full refund,” Health Canada said.

Another recall involves certain tires sold by Canadian Tire.
Transport Canada says certain types of tires from Continental Tire were pulled from Canadian Tire.
The following models are affected:
• 2023 Continental Cross Contact, Model LX25 225/65R17
• 2023 Continental, Cross Contact, Model LX25 235/55R18
In certain tires, the rubber compound may be contaminated with small metal particles. As a result, the tire’s sidewall can break and cause a sudden loss of air pressure, Transport Canada said. This is a recall warning.
Tire failure could lead to loss of control and increase the risk of a collision, the warning said.
Continental Tire will notify registered owners via email, but if you have a tire with one of these date codes or need inspection assistance, please contact your Continental Tire dealer.
The recall states, “All tires affected by this recall will be replaced.”
The third recall involves certain tablets sold at Walmart stores in Canada.
These apo acyclovir tablets have been removed from shelves due to contamination as they exceed the N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) concentration limit. Health Canada said in its recall warning::
Health Canada says you should continue taking your medicines unless your health care provider advises you to stop, adding: “There is no need to return your medicines to your pharmacy. If you do not treat your symptoms, you may pose a greater health risk.” There is,” he added.

Another recall at Wayfair involves more than 100 step stools sold at Wayfair.
The recall affects the Height Adjustable Eccles Step Stool (UPC 752771822557, Wayfair model number w005218634). The step stools are made of bamboo and come in white, brown and wood grain, according to the recall alert.
According to , the platform boards of step stools can crack during use, creating a fall hazard. Health Canada Warning.
As of May 10, the company has received one accident and one injury report in Canada. There were 127 stools sold from April 2021 to March 2023.
