Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama), who is blocking hundreds of military nominations, lamented the fact that the military is “struggling” to meet personnel needs.

Tuberville is Placed hold As his way of protesting the Pentagon’s policies regarding abortion, he criticized all military promotions that are subject to Senate confirmation.

In response to last year’s Supreme Court decision, many states have enacted abortion regulations. Roe vs. Wade. In contrast, the Biden administration implemented The Travel Reimbursement Policy allows servicemembers seeking abortions stationed in states where abortion is illegal to have their travel expenses reimbursed when they travel to states that allow abortions.

“I support the military,” Tuberville replied. “And we’re in a difficult time right now as the military, whether it’s Army, Navy or Air Force, is having a hard time really getting groups together. I work for Sen. McConnell. No. You know, I love him. I work for the people of Alabama and the taxpayers of this country. I thought we were pro-life. teeth.”

His holdoff means military nominations cannot pass the Senate unanimously, as has been the case in most cases historically. Rather, candidates must vote individually. However, at this point it will probably take hundreds of hours of floor time.

Tuberville then called on the Senate Majority Leader. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) Let candidates vote on the floor.

“I’m actually going to put some candidates on the floor myself tomorrow and get them approved, because Chuck Schumer won’t do that,” he said. “If we have to replace him, so be it.

“Well, that’s where the rubber meets the road,” Ingraham replied. “If they say no, we don’t want to vote on these things. They just want next year’s political issues, right?”

“You’re right,” the senator said, “they want to be able to use some material against us. But we’re actually fighting for the American people and our country. It is.”
