The TTC driver, who lives in Paris, Ontario, recently caught the attention of Canadian rapper Drake after his cover of Drake’s 2015 hit “Jungle” went viral in a video posted on TikTok.
“I don’t really do 52 RPMs, but when I do, I like to sing it to start my day and think I’m passing the place Drake is talking about,” says driver John Pulley. captioned the video, which was shot inside an empty bus.
He was preparing to drive along Route 52 Lawrence West.
Drake posted a video to his Instagram Story with the caption “Dial in” to his 143 million followers.
“It was pretty wild,” Pulley said.
About a year ago, the father of three was struggling with his mental health, he recalled. His wife suggested he seek help.
“I didn’t feel like I was living up to my potential…I didn’t feel like myself,” Pulley said.
After speaking with a specialist, Pulley said she gradually started to feel better.
“One of the takeaways was incorporating the things I’m passionate about into my daily life: having a family, spending time with friends, and singing.”
Pulley remixed Usher’s popular song and posted it on Tik Tok. “I was so proud of it…and it got attention and it snowballed from there,” he said.
Pulley has altered lyrics to refer to the TTC in several videos shot on subway platforms and empty buses.
