tom tom joined forces with microsoft Introducing generative AI to the automotive industry.
The collaboration created a fully integrated AI-powered conversational assistant that powers voice interaction with infotainment, location, and vehicle command systems.
Combining TomTom’s expertise and Microsoft’s AI advances, the AI-powered assistant allows drivers to have natural conversations with the vehicle. Drivers can seamlessly instruct their assistants to navigate to specific locations, identify stops along their route, and verbally control in-vehicle systems. With one action on her part, the driver can adjust the temperature, open the windows and change the radio station.
The solution leverages Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service and incorporates large-scale language models, as well as Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Cognitive Services.
TomTom says the voice assistant can be seamlessly integrated into a variety of car infotainment systems, allowing manufacturers to maintain ownership of their brand and driver experience while speeding time to market with customizable interfaces. They say it can be done.tom toms digital cockpit – the open, modular in-vehicle infotainment platform – also features a new assistant.
Mike Schoofs, TomTom’s chief revenue officer, said: “Together with Microsoft, our shared vision is to drive innovation with generative AI to deliver even better solutions for our customers.”
“We are leveraging our navigation and technology expertise to create radical new ways for people to interact with their vehicles. The new focus of TomTom and Microsoft’s partnership is to drive innovation in automotive solutions with generative AI and cloud analytics to create powerful in-vehicle digital cockpit and infotainment solutions.
“With this next generation of AI, we have a unique opportunity to accelerate innovation across the automotive space,” explained Dominic Wee, corporate vice president of manufacturing and mobility at Microsoft.
“We are building on our long-standing collaboration with TomTom to integrate advances in AI with TomTom’s automotive expertise across the Microsoft cloud, delivering new AI-powered tools to drivers and automakers. ”
