If you want to attend a big event in style, it’s hard to imagine making a bigger splash than showing up in a 20-foot-long 1996 Dodge Viper convertible limousine. This strange machine is currently on sale from Gateway Classic Cars for $169,000.
If this Viper limousine looks familiar, it’s because we featured it last year when a private seller was offering a strange ride. At the time, the person wanted $160,000, but later lowered the price to $140,000. The dealer offering the car decided to increase the amount by $10,000 to nearly $30,000, depending on the final cost.

The Viper limousine no longer features the sports car’s original V10. Instead, under the hood is a Mopar Dodge Magnum 5.9-liter crate engine that produces 390 horsepower. Although the gearshift shows a 6-speed shift pattern, power actually goes through an automatic gearbox.
You can hear Viper’s voice in the video above. The engine note isn’t quite as aggressive as the V10, but it’s still a suitably meaningful sound that matches the car’s sporty yet relaxed appearance.
The driver and passenger sit in a cockpit that looks just like the stock Viper. But things get weird from there, including a pair of eye-catching roll hoops. The super-extended rear section features his two long benches on each side and his two sports seats facing the rear bulkhead. The original seller said there are seat belts for 10 people, but there is room for up to 12 people.
according to hagerty insurance, the average price for a 1996 Dodge Viper in good condition is $37,100, so you could buy four instead of this limousine and still have cash left over for a road trip. So, will he buy a real vehicle and be left with about $132,000 in his pocket, or will he in a strange way buy a vehicle that carries 10 people for $169,00? Let us know your choice in the comments please.
