Blizzard has revealed more details about what’s coming next Overwatch 2: Rise of Darkness (Season 7). One of his biggest updates was the long-awaited overhaul of Sombra, and Team 4 revealed what’s in store for hackers.

Sombra’s current passive, Opportunist, will be retired. It is her ability that allows her to peer through walls and see enemies with less than 50% of her health. She can see enemies through walls even if they are hacked.

You’ll never guess what her new passive is. Now take a guess.

Now, if you guessed that stealth was Sombra’s new passive, you’d be correct. She automatically becomes invisible after cooldown when not using an ability, dealing damage, or taking no damage. That’s a big change.

Are you ready to make another big adjustment?

Translocators can no longer be left spawning or near health packs for several minutes at a time. Instead, the Translocator instantly teleports you to the location where you threw Sombra. This is good for EMP, but bad for people who want to flee to safety every time they are spotted by a spy check.

Sombra’s Machine Pistol, Hack, and EMP work as well. That’s everything you need to know about her rework.

Oh, wait a minute. There’s the small matter of new abilities.

It’s called a virus. This is a firing skill shot that infects enemies and deals damage over time. If the target is already hacked, the virus will do twice as much damage at a faster rate.

Below is a handy graphic explaining Sombra’s new kit.

I explained the rework of Sombra.

“Our goal is to allow Sombra to maintain her character identity and playstyle as the world’s best hacker, while being more proactive with the targets she engages and giving her kit a more active feel. ” Blizzard wrote in a blog post.

More information about Sombra’s new kit will be published in a separate blog post. But these are important changes that fundamentally change the way Sombra is played. Once she can no longer teleport half the map instantly, it might be a little easier for supports to deal with in the rear.

Meanwhile, “massive” balance changes may occur elsewhere. Blizzard plans to strip May of his Deep Freeze passive in Season 7 and return it to his previous kit. As someone who has been mainly Mei for many years, I am extremely upset by this news. Other heroes whose balance will be changed include Zarya, Orisa, Ramatla, Wrecking His Ball, Cassidy, Torbjorn, Brigitte, and Ilari. We will learn more about these adjustments in the coming days.
