After 13 years of marriage, actors Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher announced Friday that they filed for divorce last year.
The announcement was shared on both actors’ shows. instagram storiesand a photo of the couple wearing tennis clothes was published.
“After a long game of tennis that lasted more than 20 years, I am finally hanging up my racket,” the statement read. “In 2023 we jointly filed for termination of our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy and have quietly worked towards this change. We express our dedication and love to our children forever. We would like to thank you for respecting our family’s desire for privacy.”
They met at a party in Australia in 2002, got engaged in 2004, and married in 2010. Baron Cohen and Fisher have three children. Fisher is best known for her comedy work on “Wedding Crashers,” “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” and “The Bachelorette.” She has also had an extensive career as a voice actress, and she has recently appeared in the latest Marvel films, Guardians, Strays, and Rango. Baron Cohen made a name for himself by creating the comedic character on his show Ali G and the movie Borat, which spawned several spin-offs.
Baron Cohen recently revealed in Rebel Wilson’s new memoir that he pressured his “Brothers Grimsby” co-stars to film nude scenes and then called their shared agent to “harass” them. He was accused of threatening to tell her he was there. Mr. Wilson also claims that Mr. Wilson tried to prevent publication of his book, “Level Rising.” Baron Cohen vehemently denied the allegations, which he called “patently false allegations.”
