Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said he thinks former White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci deserves to be jailed. time.
“So, do you think Anthony Fauci is in prison?” Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Paul.
“There is no question,” the senator replied.
Paul has a stormy history with Fauci, from disagreements over the origins of the coronavirus pandemic to vaccinations. He also claimed that the former infectious disease doctor publicly and privately overturned the origins of the coronavirus and lied to Congress.
“We have evidence from Anthony Fauci’s own words and emails,” Paul said in an interview with Hannity.
“In public, he says, ‘Oh, if you say you got out of the lab, you’re a conspiracy theorist, you’re crazy, that’s fringe,'” he continued. “But he has said privately… ‘The virus appears to be manipulated and we are very concerned. We also know that they are doing gain-of-function research in Wuhan. So we are very concerned.”
That’s why Paul introduced Attorney General Merrick Garland, whom he called “the most partisan attorney general” in history, he said. He accused Garland of abdicating his own responsibilities to protect Fauci.
In March, Fauci responded to calls for prosecution over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying:[t]There is no reaction to that madness. ”
“I mean, what are they indicting me for? What are they talking about? I mean, I wish I could understand what the hell they’re talking about. They’re just overstepping their bounds. I think so,” Fauci said. “It makes no sense and is actually irresponsible to say things like that.”
Paul outlines his beliefs in his upcoming book, Deception: The Great Covid Cover-Up, due out next week. When he spoke to Mr. Hannity, the senator teased that further action against Mr. Fauci could come.
“We have a right to know what happened,” he said.
“I think this book will go a long way in convincing all of America that this man is a traitor to our country,” Paul later added about Fauci.
