Asked what happened, Bello added: “Yesterday there were excuses and delays.” “They kept us here until about 1 a.m. before our flight was cancelled. Our rebooking for today’s flight was postponed until midnight. Some people have been sleeping at the airport since early yesterday morning. I was there.”
Bello said passengers were initially given $20 meal vouchers to use at airport restaurants, but due to delays they had to book not only transportation and meals to and from the airport but also hotel accommodations. He said there wasn’t.

It is unclear whether this applies to this case, but Canada’s Air passenger protection regulations Major airlines are requiring customers who arrive more than nine hours late to receive $1,000 compensation. However, this only covers delays and cancellations that are under the complete control of the airline.
Bruce Robinson, who was traveling with his wife, told CTV he plans to seek further refunds.
“I want a public apology. I want at least $1,700 per person in cancellation fees,” Robinson said. “I don’t want vouchers, I want money.”
