Nukeproof is a prominent name in the mountain bike industry, known for its playful character that reflects the carefree spirit of mountain bikers. Nukeproof boasts a number of impressive models, both electric and traditional non-electric bikes. The brand continues to push the boundaries of innovation, especially in the field of e-MTB, as it has just taken the covers off its latest model, the Megawatt His Carbon.
Nukeproof’s 2024 catalog features the Megawatt Carbon electric mountain bike, which is a standout model for several reasons. First, this is one of his first bikes with the all-new Sram Eagle powertrain. This is a revolutionary e-bike system that we have detailed in a previous article. If you recall, the Eagle powertrain features an automatic gear change feature that integrates motor and drivetrain control into the system. This integration of the Sram Eagle powertrain is a key highlight of Nukeproof’s first megawatt carbon.
The Nukeproof Megawatt Carbon is specifically designed to meet the demanding demands of enduro riding and has an outstanding track record in competitive events. Previously relying on a Shimano EP8 motor, it has now moved to a Sram system and boasts a powerful Brose motor with a torque rating of 90 Nm (5 Nm more than the previous model). This model comes in two variants: Pro and RS, both of which feature lightweight carbon fiber frames. The battery is cleverly integrated into the carbon frame’s downtube for added stability and balance.
The Megawatt Carbon features advanced RockShox suspension components with 170 mm of travel up front and Vivid Select+ rear suspension for a smooth ride. The Pro version offers a Sram GX AXS 12-speed drivetrain and the RS version offers a Sram X0 with manual shift control. Additionally, in keeping with the bike’s carbon-centric design, Nukeproof equips the bike with in-house carbon components such as stems, handlebars, seatposts, and bottle cages.
Megawatt Carbon pricing options start at $9,899 for the Carbon Pro and $10,899 for the Carbon RS. Available in 5 sizes from M to XXL to accommodate a variety of riders. The differences between the Pro and RS versions lie in elements such as tires, forks, and brakes. Notably, this SRAM-powered electric mountain bike will only be available at select brand retailers.
