Game developer aNCHOR has announced that the popular visual novel games “Muv-Luv” and “Muv-Luv Alternative” will be released on Nintendo Switch next spring. Additionally, aNCHOR shared that Teito Moyu, a prequel to Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse, will be available on PC via Steam starting in November.
The Muv-Luv series is set in a world where humans fight against extraterrestrial invaders known as BETA. Players control a tactical surface fighter, a humanoid weapon designed to combat alien threats.
aNCHOR plans to release both Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative on Nintendo Switch both digitally and in retail packaging with special benefits. This allows fans of the franchise to choose their preferred purchasing method.
Muv-Luv was first introduced in 2003 by adult game brand âge following the success of Eternity: What You Want. This was followed by 2006’s critically acclaimed Muv-Luv Alternative. Since then, the series has gained a huge following, with over 500,000 games sold and over 3 million figures, models and hobby items released.
The Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse spin-off was originally a light novel, which also inspired a manga adaptation and an animated television series. Another prequel to this series, Schwarzes His Marken, was also adapted into an anime. In particular, “Eternity You Want” also inspired a popular anime series titled “Rumble Hearts.”
Fans of the Muv-Luv series can look forward to Teito Moyu when it releases on Steam this November. This provides more backstory and expands on Muv-Luv Alternative’s immersive world.
