Joe Rogan is among a long list of people who believe Francis Ngannou deserves a victory over heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury this Saturday night.
in Latest episode of his podcast, the UFC’s color commentators praised Ngannou’s performance after scoring a knockdown from Fury in the third round, which ended in a razor-thin split decision loss. The two judges’ scorecards were split 95-94, one for Fury and the other for Ngannou. However, the third official, Juan Carlos Pelayo, gave Fury the victory 96-93.
Despite Ngannou defeating Fury 10-8 rounds, Pelayo, who has fought more than 260 fights in his career, gave the Cameroonian just two more rounds, making for a lopsided result.
“Francis Ngannou never had a boxing match in his life,” Logan told X owner Elon Musk. “He had zero boxing matches, but he was the UFC heavyweight champion. He knocked out Tyson Fury in three rounds. He beat him in eight rounds.
“Although most people, including myself and most boxers and boxing experts, thought he should have won by decision, one judge’s scorecard showed him losing by one point.” The judges’ scorecards said he won, but the other judge who should go to prison beat Tyson Fury 96-93, which is outrageous.β
Logan believes the turning point in the fight was probably when Ngannou scored the only knockdown of the 10-round bout, based on Fury’s reaction afterwards.
“When I dropped Tyson Fury in the third round, you could have seen Tyson lying on his back going, ‘What the hell?'” And then he realized. [heβs in trouble]β Logan said.
“I think he wanted to run him over because he’s the heavyweight boxing champion. He’s like, ‘There’s no way this guy can box with me.’ He even said, “It’s time to go to school,” at the beginning of the fight, but at the end of the fight, Francis said, “You’re Professor *****.” β
Despite the controversial result, Ngannou has been praised for his performance, especially considering the stacked odds against him.
While Ngannou has requested a rematch, Fury appears to be moving towards a heavyweight title unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk, scheduled for February. Either way, Ngannou has quickly become the hottest name in boxing, with a long list of heavyweight contenders vying for the chance to face him next.
