UFC 294: Makhachev vs. Volkanovskiy 2 took place on October 21st at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (25-1) and featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovskiy (26-3) clashed in an impromptu rematch for Makhachev’s belt in the night’s main event. The game was broadcast live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

Round 1: Makhachev starts as southpaw, Volk as orthodox, and Makhachev as center. Immediate grappling and Makhachev starts the fight with an inside low kick. He’s backing up Volk, and they’re both very patient in getting started.
Bork shows a feint. Makhachev flashes a counter with a left hand. Makhachev goes up top with a head kick, but Foulkes eats it nicely. Makhachev then goes for a takedown. Volk tries to close, but Makhachev clinch and drives him to the fence. Volk reversed his position and his left hand got busier. Makhachev ties up and looks for a position. Makhachev drives his knee in, but Volk leaves the frame.
Makhachev frames Volk with a nice knee kick, sending Volk back against the fence. But Makhachev now has a Thai clinch and lands his knee. Volk spins him into the fence to kill the clinch and eventually breaks free. Makhachev kicks right out of the gate.
Makhachev applied pressure but was cautious. Bork may come up with a big counter punch. He is waiting so long.
Oh my good do do do do do Makhachev lands a head kick and Volk falls down.If you punch it, it’s over, it’s over, you’re still the champion.
