Four giant beer tanks are sure to create a stir in southwestern Ontario as they make their way to Labatt Brewery’s new home in London.
The brewing equipment is more than 100 feet long and about 20 feet wide and is expected to occupy two lanes of slow-paced traffic as it arrives in the city from Lambton County between 1 and 3 p.m. on Tuesday. .
The fermentation tanks, worth a total of $13.5 million, were manufactured in Germany and shipped to Canada by ship. They will now travel overland to their new home in London as part of the brewery’s expansion.
“This is our hometown brewery, and we brew over 40% of Canada’s beer. So we’re basically making sure that we can brew more beer to meet consumer demand. We invested in these,” said Hannah Love, senior director of external affairs and communications at Canada’s Labatt Breweries.
This tank provides an additional capacity of 597,000 hectoliters (1 hL equals 100L) of beer.
The City of London has issued a notice warning that delays are expected from the east side of Fanshawe Park Road to Highbury Avenue, then Hamilton Road and Houghton Road, Richmond Street and finally Gray Street. Issued.
But Love said the precious cargo isn’t expected to arrive at the brewery until after dark.
“Convoys are so large that they move very slowly. That’s why we’ve been working with local authorities to make sure everyone knows they’re coming. , they are expected to arrive at the brewery late tonight into tomorrow morning.”
