New Delhi:
Amid the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, former student leader Shehra Rashid said Indians are lucky to have a government and security forces that have ensured “long-term peace and security” in Kashmir. I was grateful.
Looking at events in the Middle East, I realize how lucky we are as Indians today. The Indian Army and security forces have sacrificed everything for our security.

“As the Middle East crisis has shown, peace is impossible without security. The brave personnel of the Indian Army @ChinarcorpsIA, @crpfindia and Jammu and Kashmir Police @JmuKmrPolice are committed to ensuring long-term peace and security in Kashmir. “We have made tremendous sacrifices,” she said. she said in another post.
Rashid shot to fame after the 2016 JNU scandal in which several student leaders were arrested for allegedly raising anti-national slogans.
Rashid, once a vocal critic of the Narendra Modi government, has recently supported the Center on a number of issues, including control of Kashmir.
Earlier, in July, she withdrew a petition challenging the Centre’s 2019 move to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcate the former state into two union territories.
Ms Rashid also said that the human rights situation in Kashmir had improved under the rule of the Narendra Modi government and the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
“No matter how inconvenient it is to admit this, the human rights situation in Kashmir has improved under the @narendramodi government.
Admin @OfficeOfLGJandK. A purely utilitarian calculation shows that the government’s clear stance has helped save lives overall. That’s how I see it,” she tweeted on August 15 of this year.
