Apple has announced its second fall event of 2023, scheduled to take place on Monday, October 30th at 5pm PT (5:30am IST). The event will be pre-recorded and online only, with no in-person attendance allowed.
The focus of the event is said to be on the Mac lineup, with Apple expected to announce updates for several Mac models. The company’s invitation also suggests that the event will focus on his Mac, as it shows a logo that morphs from an Apple logo to a Mac Finder icon.
Bloomberg’s Mark Garman previously predicted that Apple would release a new Mac at its “Scary Fast” event, and now he’s revealed what the company will announce on the eve of Halloween.
New MacBook Pro, iMac with M3 chip
Garman suggests we could see new versions of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros featuring the new M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. After that, his 24-inch iMac with the M3 chip could be revamped. Other than the new chips, no cosmetic changes are expected in these three of his products. Therefore, these come in the same design and colors as the previous generation models.
The M3 chip lineup is said to be built on TSMC’s 3nm process, which should bring significant performance gains and improved gaming performance, and reports suggest that’s what Apple will be key to tonight. It will be a topic of discussion.
There are no new 13-inch models at this time
A 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air are also in development, but these two are not expected to be released at the upcoming Scary Fast event. Additionally, Apple reportedly doesn’t plan to release a new iPad until next spring, so there won’t be any iPad-related announcements on Monday.
USB-C Magic accessories for Mac also available
Apple announces updated versions of Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad for Mac. The new accessory will have a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port for charging. These will be announced alongside the latest 24-inch iMac, which is powered by the M3 chip. It’s unclear if there are any design changes other than the switch to USB-C.
