About flights and equipment
The incident involved Air India flight AI933 from Kochi to Dubai. Most of the flight was uneventful, but ended with a hard landing. The aircraft involved in the incident is a five-and-a-half year old Airbus A320neo registered as VT-CIQ. The relatively young age of the aircraft may have prevented a serious incident, but future flights will need to be thoroughly evaluated. The Times of India To quote a senior A320 pilot:
“This aircraft landed in Dubai exceeding the manufacturer’s landing gear structural limits. Significant damage to the landing gear structure is possible. Depending on the age and metal fatigue of the aircraft, young aircraft While it may survive that particular landing, subsequent landings may result in loss of structural integrity, leading to structural failure.”

The aircraft was removed from further flights and remained in Dubai for further inspection. He returned to Mumbai on December 27 for thorough examination. The ferry flight from Dubai took place at an altitude of less than 10,000 feet, indicating it was a non-pressurized flight, according to Flightradar24. So far, the plane has not made any other commercial flights.
Other incidents that occurred around the world
A hard landing can be difficult for both the aircraft and its crew, depending on its severity. In August 2023, an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800 made a hard landing at California’s John Wayne Airport, sustaining extensive damage to its landing gear and wing.
The landing took place in severe weather conditions at the airport, and the plane hit the runway hard, hitting the left landing gear, which collapsed and created a hole in the wing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

In August 2022, a flight attendant was seriously injured in another hard landing at John Wayne Airport. A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 made a hard landing on a short runway, fracturing a flight attendant’s spine and requiring paramedics to evacuate him.
