An Air Canada passenger on a flight from Toronto to Dubai opened his cabin door while the plane was on the ground, sending his car flying onto the tarmac, causing a lengthy delay.
The airline said in a statement that the passenger “boarded the plane as normal” but went directly to the cabin door without taking a seat.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that all approved boarding and cabin operating procedures were followed.” told Global News.

The passenger fell just before takeoff at Toronto’s Pearson Airport Monday night. Peel Regional Police and Peel EMS responded to the incident.

The passenger was injured, but the details of his condition have not been released, nor has it been explained why he tried to open the cabin door.
The plane, a Boeing 777, was scheduled to carry 319 passengers, but it was delayed for several hours.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which operates Air Canada and Pearson, said it was investigating the incident.
“We worked with the airline, Peel Regional Police and Peel EMS to provide support and determine immediate needs,” the airline said.
