After a bit of chin-jabbing, Adam Page chooses to slap Swerve Strickland, resulting in a brawl out of the ring and the match begins with Strickland launching Page into the fan. He then jumps over the barricade and attacks Hangman again, but when the match returns to the ring, Page stomps Strickland and reverses, but he fights back with a big boot.
Page then hits a fallaway slam and pulls Strickland off the top turnbuckle before landing a few punches. Strickland then tries to focus on his opponent’s arm, but Page fights back and nails a lariat to the back of Strickland’s neck. Page then slams Strickland into the barricade and hits a fallaway slam to the floor.
Back in the ring, both men trade chops, and Page goes for a buckshot lariat, but Swerve blocks it, and on the way down, he slams her back off the apron and gets thrown over the top rope. Page then goes for a moonsault, but Strickland avoids and returns with a flatliner. Strickland attacks Page over the top rope and follows up with a diving elbow to the back.
Strickland connects with House Call, but it only causes him to take a near fall. The two then head to the top turnbuckle, but when Page tries to corner Strickland, Strickland manages to reverse and hit an enziguri. Strickland tries to keep attacking, but Page connects with a powerbomb, but it’s not enough to keep him down. But Swerve avoids a buckshot lariat and hits a lariat of his own, then a Swerve stomp, but Page kicks out!
Page heads out of the ring, but Strickland continues to attack with a running boot. They then stand on the guardrail and Page DDTs Strickland on the guardrail. Page then pulls out a table, but both men have the same idea of using big boots inside the ring. Strickland hits a backbreaker, but Page kicks out again. Page then goes to the top turnbuckle, but gets pushed and his ankle locks up, allowing him to hit a Swerve Stomp. Page then falls onto a table outside the ring, which quickly breaks.
Strickland ran to set up another table, but as he was about to hit a 450 inside the ring, Page took a knee. He hits another big lariat and follows up with a buckshot, but Strickland gets his foot on the ropes. He hit the Dead Die and as Strickland fell to the floor, Page instructed the referee to count him out. Prince Nana then dances around him, which attempts to force Strickland back into the ring, but is quickly kicked out. Paige then gets a chair and nails Nana, but he turns around and gets a kick to his face.
He hits a Swerve Stomp but twists his ankle, and Page stays focused there and twists it. A brawl breaks out on the ring apron, and Strickland pushes Page into the announce table, where Page hits Deadeye through the table. Strickland then goes for the Swerve Stomp, but Page moves. He then goes for a buck shot, but Strickland reverses and goes for the JME driver, but just as he is about to win, the time-out bell rings.
Result – draw
Strickland got on the microphone and said he didn’t have to go through all that to end up like this. He asks for five more minutes, but Page points out that Strickland had to beat him to become the number one contender, he can’t be world champion, it’s over, and Page leaves the ring. Ta. Tony Schiavone then got on the microphone and revealed that Tony Khan said he wasn’t done yet. He will be a triple threat in AEW Revolution.
